Mrs. Gowans' class had a magical March searching for leprechauns and gold! The children designed and built leprechaun traps. They had fun making green slime and hiding gold in the slime. The class enjoyed exploring the author Dr. Seuss through creative art, language art, math and literacy. The letters M and N were highlighted during the month. Spring has sprung and the children are discovering the changes happening around them. Also, there was a special visit from Keyana's mom, Maria. She came to the preschool and taught the children about Nowruz, which is a celebration of the Iranian New Year on the first day of spring!
Mrs. Peterson's class was busy working on a weather unit during March. The children learned the effects of weather on our planet. Some activities to simulate weather included: a tornado in a jar and a hurricane in a glass bowl. As the weather unit finished, they learned about the four seasons by playing a game called Season Lotto. In the building center, the children created leprechaun traps and left gold to trap the leprechaun. They also did activities surrounding the St. Patrick's Day theme in the areas of math and language arts. In creative arts, the children made a lion, a leprechaun and a lamb. They also painted still art of a flowering plant. Lastly, the children completed learning all of the short vowel sounds and are beginning to read c/v/c (consonant, vowel, consonant) words!
