Our superhero students received a special surprise visit from Spider-Man! The kids were amazed and had a great time!
The students at Little Scholars Preschool had a special visit from Animal Experiences this week! Students were very excited to learn about, explore and develop an appreciation for reptiles, amphibians, and other small animals without being afraid of them. They learned that animals are not always kept as pets and that they are to be treated with care. Most of all, the kids enjoyed getting hands on with them!
Most of the learning in December tied back to the holidays of Hanukkah and Christmas. The teachers did many creative activities that the children loved! The children learned the traditions of Hanukkah. In one classroom they made latkes (potato pancakes) and in another classroom the children made dreidels out of a marshmallow and Hershey Kiss. Many elf games and Christmas activities were used in the math, literacy and language arts domains. A couple of highlights included a family engagement activity where the children decorated a foam gingerbread man at home and a science experiment that dissolved a gingerbread cookie. Also, students made gingerbread playdough to create reindeers and wrapped presents and ornaments to work on their fine motor skills.
Each day the children were visited by the “classroom elf” who taught them valuable lessons such as being kind to friends and family. Lastly, a visit from Santa was enjoyed by all!
