This month was a busy one! We started off by celebrating Dr. Suess week and enjoyed crazy hat day, crazy sock day, mix/match day, green day and more! We spent time reading lots of Dr. Seuss books and learning all about his crazy rhyming. March was also a month full of "March Mathness". Throughout the month the classes were learning all different shapes by playing color shape bingo, using fine motor skills by counting shaped beads and stringing them, counting and identifying colors making leprechaun rainbows and so much more! The greatest part of March was trying to catch the Leprechaun who was playing tricks on all of us here at LSP! As a family engagement piece, each child brought home directions for a Leprechaun Trap project and the children and their families spent time making their best Leprechaun traps in hopes to catch him here at the preschool, however, no such luck... however….maybe next year we will capture him! ]]><![CDATA[Love and Kindness Month]]>Fri, 25 Feb 2022 05:00:00 GMThttps://www.littlescholarsri.com/blog/love-and-kindness-monthFebruary was all about love and kindness here at Little Scholars Preschool!💖 The students built lots of conversation heart towers and made many Valentine’s heart collages to give to their friends. When they were not passing out valentines to all of their friends they were learning all about the heart and the role it plays to make our body work! Our students also focused on celebrating heart month by wearing red and listening to their very own heartbeat through a stethoscopes. The children celebrated President's Day by learning how to recognize the differences between coins and were observing the presidents on the coins! We also received some love from Marty the Comfort Dog from the East Providence Police Department with the special visit that he made to us at Little Scholars. The children had lots of fun learning and engaging with each other this month and finished the month with Valentine’s Day parties to celebrate why love and kindness matters! ]]><![CDATA[Snow Much Fun!]]>Mon, 31 Jan 2022 05:00:00 GMThttps://www.littlescholarsri.com/blog/snow-much-funThis month at Little Scholars the students read the book, The Mitten by Jan Brett. After daily discussions on the sequence of events from the book, students took turns acting out the animals and "snuggled" their way into a 'mitten' with their friends! We also experimented with painting using ice! These ‘popsicles’ were made with paint and water and froze into writing utensils. ​
Our students using ice exploration for Creative Arts, Science and Math skills. 
The students were working on their fine motor skills by cutting and pasting! They took some time to focus on the sequence of events in The Mitten by Jan Brett and they also explored learning shapes and colors by ice fishing for colored shapes!
Snow cone fun! The students learned how ice can come in many different forms and they made snow cones! The students enjoyed their delicious frozen treats after their ice-skating adventures using ‘ice plates’. They also participated in many more fun hands-on winter activities in their classroom!​
The fun continues in our classrooms with identifying the differences in shape sizes (big, medium, small) of all different textured items and learned all about the shapes and sizes when building a snowman. They also participated in many activities that focused on the letter “Dd”. ​

This month our students celebrated the holiday season participating in many fun and educational activities in their learning centers! Classrooms were transformed into Santa’s workshops while students participated in many hands-on activities and just to name a few they were: making gingerbread play dough, creating unique family gifts, letters to Santa and making ornaments for our preschool Christmas tree at Slater Park’s Winter Wonderland. They also received special visits from their classroom elves and Santa Claus!
