An October Recap

11/9/2015

  • Children began the month learning about Fire Prevention.  They learned the importance of smoke detectors, what to do in case of a fire in their home and how to "Stop, Drop and Roll".
  • The following weeks catered to the theme "Living Things Grow and Change".  Children measured and observed (with magnifying glasses) pumpkins, sunflower parts and corn. They put pumpkin seeds in a baggie with a damp towel and taped them to the window. They have watched the seeds grow and sprout!
  • The 3 year olds learned to paint with real corn by using the silk as a brush. They are learning the letters in their name by fishing for letters, using magnetic letters with their name card as a guide and picking letters out with alphabet puzzles. In the Mathematics Domain they learned the concepts of big/small, long/short, near/far and high/low.
  • Of course the month was ended with a dress up Halloween Party!
