Little Scholars Preschool ~ Our Philosophy
Little Scholars
Preschool was established to provide families with a safe, nurturing and loving
preschool environment where children can build a solid educational foundation.
We want our students to become independent, confident and lifelong learners
with a strong sense of self. We want every child that enters through our front
door to enter into a positive child centered preschool experience where they
can develop their personalities and abilities through interconnecting with
their parents, teachers and peers. The
goal for every child is to foster a love for learning in a warm and
nurturing environment where students yearn to learn!
Children learn based upon their individual needs, and we at Little Scholars Preschool want to ensure that every child is provided with the opportunity to thrive. In order for our children to be successful lifelong learners, our curriculum is based on well researched practices and a structured routine environment. Our curriculum is based on the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards. These standards allow our educators to provide quality lessons that are age appropriate and critical for school readiness. Ongoing assessments throughout the school year will be administered to confirm students are making progress. Assessment results are used to plan program improvements and to tailor ongoing curriculum for the individual child as well as the class as a whole.
Research shows that learning through play, using hands on multi-sensory activities, allows children to learn about the world around them and themselves. As children actively engage in play, they acquire new skills, make discoveries, determine how things work, learn rules and solve problems. It also provides opportunities for positive interactions with their peers and teachers. At Little Scholars Preschool, children will have adequate space to play, discover and explore in each domain. They will have access to many hands on manipulatives and materials to ensure that every student is having fun and is engaged at all times.
Parent participation is a very important part of our program. Open communication and relationships between parents, teachers and students is fundamental to a child’s success in school. This connective piece allows children to engage to their fullest and allows them to have a positive learning experience. We encourage parent participation in our Parent Reading Program, volunteering or becoming a member of our Parent Advisory Council.
Together, we will make your child’s preschool experience one that they will cherish and never forget!
