Many additional activities occurred during the month. For example, the preschool class learned about colors, and used finger paint to make secondary colors from primary colors. For physical health and motor development, they practiced throwing and catching a ball. The Pre-K class continued their letter sounds and writing their first and last names. They also did a unit on animals where they learned about habitats such as: grasslands, deserts, rainforests and the polar regions!
The major themes for February included Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day and a Super Bowl Celebration! For Groundhog Day, students used flashlights to make shadows and they also predicted if we’d have an early spring or late winter! In creative arts, the children made groundhog crafts. Valentine’s Day was celebrated with a party where the children were able to exchange Valentine cards. As an activity, they counted hearts and spelled their names using conversational hearts. President’s Day allowed the students to learn about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The Super Bowl made for an exciting and fun time at Little Scholars.
