Little Scholars Preschool had two special visits for Fire Prevention Week. Jake the Fireman spent time with the students reviewing fire safety. Also, the East Providence Fire Department stopped in to say hello to the children. They were kind enough to let each child sit in the fire truck!

Little Scholars Preschool would like to welcome its newest teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Gowans. Mrs. Gowans comes highly qualified with over 12 years of preschool experience. She holds a bachelor's degree from Southern Vermont College. Also, she graduated with high honors from CCRI with a degree in Early Childhood. She is Lead Teacher Certified. She had previously worked at The Childrens Place, which is now known as Little Scholars Preschool. We are fortunate to have yet another warm, caring teacher who is passionate about educating our little ones! Mrs. Peterson’s class has begun the year by learning routines and that everything has a place. The children are learning the letters in their name and tracing their name. We have introduced the letters "Cc", "Oo" and "Gg" and the sound they make. For math we are using an estimation jar. The jar is filled with seasonal items and the children make their best estimation about the quantity in the jar. Mrs. Oldham’s class has begun by learning routines and the importance of respecting others. The children work on name recognition and sign in using the program Handwriting Without Tears. This program is a developmental teaching order which helps children master handwriting skills in the easiest, most efficient way. The class has started its Alphabet Museum with the letter “L”. Children will bring an item to school that correlates to their letter and will share all the items in the Alphabet Museum. |
